Having taught at the high school level for almost 10 years and currently as a Director of Technology, Greg Kulowiec understands the complexity of change in education and the experience of educators working to navigate change.
So many great points here. The overwhelm with the speed of change. The role of attention with AI. The psychological impacts on students. Great work Sara. Thanks Greg.
I loved this episode. I listened in my car, so I need to listen again so that I can jot down some notes. I loved the idea that teachers do not need to be experts in order to tackle something. I think some put unrealistic pressure on themselves to try to know everything and all the ins-and-outs before they introduce something to students.
Yes, Don - I think that's one of my favorite things to start talking about more. Teachers are prone to perfectionism, likely due to the nature of their job. They are professionally meant to teach others about stuff - so don't they have to be experts first? To some extent, they should be. But when it comes to new technologies or approaches, I think the value is in watching teachers embrace and struggle with the challenge. rather than think they have to perfect it.
Thank, Damien! Google Podcasts requires that shows have a homepage associated with them, so I have to figure that out first. Looking into in the next couple of days. Not many requests for Google, so I appreciate it!
Great start, well put together podcast. Sara you're awesome!
Thanks so much, Mario! Please share if you feel inspired to! I appreciate you listening.
